Matt Stamell attended Mondomusica in Cremona, Italy, in October. In addition to the annual trade show, this year featured an exhibit of nearly 50 instruments of the Amati family, which was a Cremonese dynasty from the mid 1500s until the mid 1700s. The exhibit displayed the work of Andrea Amati through Nicolo Amati, the teacher of Stradivarius. Each instrument was presented in a glass showcase, with historical information on each one. The exhibit was held in an ancient castle, which also held the instruments which were part of the Trienniele competition. |
